📽🎉 cinéSARNIA goes to TIFF and Cinéfest
Your cinéSARNIA committee is currently “on tour” reviewing films in Toronto and Sudbury at TIFF and Cinéfest. From our hours of viewing, we will return with great selections for the rest of our season. More news to come.
📽🎉 30th Anniversary of cinéSARNIA
Back in 1995, the Centre by the Bay created cinéSeries (now known as cinéSARNIA), showing films that would normally not come to our small city of Sarnia. We were part of the Film Circuit, an arm of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), as one of 150 various communities across Canada.
Our debut film was “Canadian Bacon”, starring John Candy. Interestingly TIFF is presenting his documentary “John Candy: I Like Me” this year.
This year is our 30th Anniversary. Join us for another great season of quality films.
Stay tuned for details on an upcoming celebration.

📽🎟 Our first film - “Sing Sing”
Showings:
Sunday, September 28 @ 2 pm
Monday September 29 @ 7 pm
Synopsis:
Imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit, John “Divine G” Whitfield (Colman Domingo) finds hope through the Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) theater program at Sing Sing prison. Alongside other incarcerated men—many of whom play themselves—the group stages an original play, transforming pain into purpose. Under the guidance of a dedicated director, they discover humanity and healing in performance. As they rehearse and bond, personal redemption and creative expression flourish behind bars. The film illuminates art’s power to restore identity and community in the harshest environment.
🕖 IMPORTANT TIME CHANGE
Monday showings will now start at
7:00 pm instead of 7:30 pm
We have had several suggestions that we try to finish the evening showings earlier so people aren’t out so late. So we have decided to change the start time of the films on Mondays to 7:00 pm instead of 7:30 pm. Sundays will remain the same time, at 2:00 pm.
