📽 🎹 Our next film

The Librarians

Showings:

  • Sunday, March 1 @ 2 pm

  • Monday, March 2 @ 7 pm

When books are challenged, librarians stand their ground.

In an era when books are being challenged and libraries have become unexpected front lines in cultural debates, The Librarians shines a timely and compelling spotlight on the people who stand at the heart of it all. This powerful documentary follows librarians as they navigate pressure, protest, and politics — all while remaining committed to intellectual freedom and community service. Thoughtful, balanced, and deeply human, the film reveals the courage it takes to defend access to information in today’s world. The Librarians is not just about books — it’s about democracy, dialogue, and the enduring power of knowledge. Don’t miss this important and inspiring film.

We are so grateful to “The Book Keeper” bookstore in the Northgate Plaza for sponsoring the costs for this film.

FRIDAY, APRIL 10 @ 7:00 PM

🎆 Nirvanna: The Band, The Show, The Movie

We are featuring a smart, funny, time-travelling satire, “Nirvanna: The Band - The Show - The Movie”. (By the way, it’s not THAT Seattle band.)

Follow these wannabe musicians who just want to headline at their favourite club. How far “back to the future” will they go? It’s a love letter to Toronto, that blends nostalgia, self-mockery, and absurdity into an unexpectedly reflective portrait of friendship and unrealized dreams. 96% audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

I can’t believe Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie exists — a wildly ambitious, laugh-out-loud time-travel comedy that feels like pure indie filmmaking chaos (in the best way). Won’t work for everyone, but if it hits, it’s absolute theatrical joy. Cinema in its purest, Canadian form.

You are lucky that this film is coming to Sarnia from us as it’s not available at the local Cineplex. It’s not the kind of film we usually bring, but we know many people will enjoy it. It’s hilarious, heartfelt, and accessible — although not for everyone, it’s perfect for anyone who loves a good adventure story and a good laugh. Just come along for the rollercoaster ride. Have fun with it and you will be rewarded with joy. You’re going to come out wondering “How did they get away with all that?”.

 SATURDAY, APRIL 11 @ 6:30 PM
🎆 Nuremberg

At 6:30 pm, we are presenting “Nuremberg”, starring Russell Crowe and Rami Malek. It’s a gripping moral showdown—where justice itself is put on trial. As the Nuremberg trials are set to begin, a U.S. Army psychiatrist gets locked in a dramatic psychological duel with accused Nazi war criminal Hermann Göring.

Audiences have given it 95% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Here is one review, for example:

Incredible movie! I really found it’s quite terrifying. The connection in the last part of the movie and how the correlations were made between what they did leading up to World War II and the events of today and what men will do to achieve power.

As part of our 30th anniversary celebration, we’re inviting our members and film-loving community to help create something truly special: our very own signature cocktail. Or even a MOCKtail. Look for the Signature Cocktail Box in the lobby and drop your submission inside, no mixology degree required, just enthusiasm and imagination.

All recipes will be accepted up to Monday, March 23, at showing of “Once Upon My Mother”. when our panel will review the entries and select the winning creation. The chosen cocktail/mocktail will debut at our 30th Anniversary Gala and be featured throughout the evening, giving its creator full bragging rights and a place in our club’s history.
