Hi cinéSARNIA members,

Another great season for cinéSARNIA has begun. We kicked off our 2025-2026 season with the film “Sing Sing”, starring Colman Domingo and featuring many former inmates of the infamous Sing Sing prison portraying themselves.

Next we are presenting an enjoyable feature, "The Marching Band". A successful symphony conductor discovers a brother he never knew he had. I joked last time that “Sing Sing” was not a musical. “The Marching Band” definitely has music as the “instrument” that connects the two men. More details below.

And we finally have confirmed our last two films for the Fall 2025 series. Find out what they are below.

How are you enjoying this newsletter so far? You can always contact us via email at [email protected]. We would love to hear your comments and feedback. ❤️

PLEASE NOTE - We are sending two identical versions of this issue, except that this lighter one is generally be on a white background with black text. 📽🎟 Passes Still Available - SAVE
There still is time to get your pass and save. Please let a friend know. Even if you missed the first film, it’s still cheaper to get a Full Season pass for $99 for the 10 remaining films, than the four individual films left to show this fall, plus the six in the Winter pass. (And even if you only see three of the four remaining Fall films.)

If you haven’t already joined us, please go to our Passes page on our website.

  • Full Season $99 - all remaining 10 films (only $9.90 per film)

  • Winter 2026 $66 - 6 films

For those who have passes already, you should have picked them up at the desk at the last film. If you haven’t picked them up there, just check with our volunteers and we will give them to you. Even if you store the QR code on your phone, take the paper pass so we know that you have your pass.

🎺🥁 And on a related “note”

Here is a little diversion… Just a blast from Sarnia’s past. I found a photo of the Bluewater Buccaneers. They were a great organization for youth and entertained many Sarnians at various parades. My brother and sister were part of this crew. Click this link for a Sarnia Journal article about the long history of marching bands in Sarnia.

📽🎟 Films chosen so far…
We have now been able to confirm our final two films for the Fall 2025 series:

The following films have been scheduled for Fall 2025. Click the name to find more info on our website:

🕖 IMPORTANT TIME CHANGE
Monday showings will now start at
7:00 pm instead of 7:30 pm

We have had several suggestions that we try to finish the evening showings earlier so people aren’t out so late. So we have decided to change the start time of the films on Mondays to 7:00 pm instead of 7:30 pm. Sundays will remain the same time, at 2:00 pm.

Our communication must have worked well as I didn’t see anyone coming in late for Sing Sing.

📽🎟After Film Discussion “Culture Club”

A small informal group of film goers are starting to meet at Coffee Culture, following the last movie “Sing Sing”. If not to discuss the finer points of the film, but to enjoy the wonderful coffee and the 15% discount that your cinéSARNIA pass or ticket will give you. As an added bonus on Monday night, some of the remaining pastries baked that day were on sale after 9 pm for ONE DOLLAR!

Now that’s good “Karma” (click this… Karma Chameleon by Culture Club, get it?)

I encourage everyone to drop in following (or preceding) the film and have a time to chat with fellow cinephiles. Maybe some of our committee will be there too. ☕

Gather at Coffee Culture before or after the film
Get a 15% discount

🫘☕ NEW this year - show your cinéSARNIA pass/ticket within a 2-hour window before or after the show to receive 15% off your order at Coffee Culture (Front/Lochiel Street location ONLY)
