Hi cinéSARNIA members,

We are kicking off our 2025-2026 season this Sunday and Monday with the poignant film “Sing Sing”. No it’s not a musical (haha). It’s the story of John “Divine G” Whitfield, who finds hope through the Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) theater program at Sing Sing prison. Divine G is played by Colman Domingo, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for this role. Many of the actors in this film were actual inmates. It’s truly an uplifting film. More details below.

And remember, Monday shows start now at 7:00 pm.

🚧🅿️🚧👷 Construction Downtown 👷🚧🅿️🚧

Just a heads up…

There is quite a bit of construction going on downtown near the theatre. Wellington Street is completely closed off west of Queen Street to Front Street. The intersections at Christina/Wellington and Front/Wellington are fully fenced off.

But finding parking should still be reasonably possible. There is a public lot near DJ Robb off of Victoria Street, and many of the street parking spots can be reached from the north around the theatre area. Plan accordingly.

Come downtown before the film and enjoy 15% off from Coffee Culture.

📽🎉 cinéSARNIA goes to the Festivals

Your cinéSARNIA committee is back from journeys to Toronto and Sudbury at TIFF and Cinéfest. We saw some wonderful films and have requested a couple for the remainder of the Fall 2025 season. We will update you when we have the dates confirmed.

We will also be sending some scouts out to Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF), which runs October 23 - November 2. And we invite you to attend some days yourself as its only an hour and a half away.

Check out their website at https://windsorfilmfestival.com/

📽🎟 Our first film - “Sing Sing”

Showings:

  • Sunday, September 28 @ 2 pm

  • Monday September 29 @ 7 pm

Synopsis:

Imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit, John “Divine G” Whitfield (Colman Domingo) finds hope through the Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) theater program at Sing Sing prison. Alongside other incarcerated men—many of whom play themselves—the group stages an original play, transforming pain into purpose. Under the guidance of a dedicated director, they discover humanity and healing in performance. As they rehearse and bond, personal redemption and creative expression flourish behind bars. The film illuminates art’s power to restore identity and community in the harshest environment.

🕖 IMPORTANT TIME CHANGE
Monday showings will now start at
7:00 pm instead of 7:30 pm

We have had several suggestions that we try to finish the evening showings earlier so people aren’t out so late. So we have decided to change the start time of the films on Mondays to 7:00 pm instead of 7:30 pm. Sundays will remain the same time, at 2:00 pm.

Gather at Coffee Culture before or after the film
